“Dakota Models,” created by Great Lakes Sports Publishing (GLSP), is a venture to publish books on fashion photography.  The idea was conceived by GLSP with an initial project to publish previously unknown models (most with little or no experience) for a 300+ page coffee table book of “our models.”  Half of the 60 to 70 models, anticipated for our first project, are expected to be recruited from the Chicago/Milwaukee area—in order to keep the project tied locally within the Midwest region and facilitate possible future booking, through outside agencies, or stage ‘book signing’ events.

The project, generally, is open to females 16 to 30.  Because some will be under the age of 18, nothing age-inappropriate will appear in this book or any other project that an underage model took part.  However photo shoots for models over 18, if the model agrees, may involve very mild adult content—for potential use/casting in a subsequent project.

Make up and clothing will be the model’s responsibility.  The vision for this project—no means considered ‘high fashion’—is geared towards the ‘All-American Girl’ image and will capture each model’s style, uniqueness and/or originally.  Models are selected based on their ‘natural beauty’ and this concept should be taken into consideration during the photo shoots.  Tank tops and jeans may be one of many acceptable options; however, models are not discouraged to gain from the experience and increase the fashion level during the shoot when photographers allow wardrobe changes.

At the moment, GLSP does not employ photographers.  Photographers will be contracted, in the vicinity of the model’s residence.   Models will attend photo shoots at no cost to them.  To conduct the shoot, photographers will be paid by GLSP.   Photographer may invoke their own rules or standards for the photo shoot.  For example, if a model is under 18, some may require a parent to be present during the shoot.  All models, regardless of age, are encouraged to be accompanied by a friend, or guardian.

Models will not be paid for the actual photo shoot, and participate voluntarily; however, they will receive a portion of the profits of any book, or product, published as a result of their participation.  While GLSP will seek publishing rights for any images produced from photo shoots, funded and arranged by us, we do not desire ownership of your images.  Digital images will be delivered directly from the photographer to GLSP who, in turn, will provide the model with a medium-resolution sampling of their photo shoots—for their use.  Additionally, your first name, initial of last name, age, and hometown may appear in the book along with your photos.  You may also provide contact info (website, email, P.O. Box) for ‘future booking’ information, if desired, to appear in the book or website www.dakotamodels.com (this may be updated at any time, before printing).
